Project Overview
Civil IQ was engaged by Praxis to develop the preliminary design for cross drainage infrastructure associated with the Snowy 2.0 construction access road network. The project supported the delivery of more than 70 kilometres of access roads linking major construction sites at Lobs Hole, Marica and Tantangara through the challenging terrain of Kosciuszko National Park.
Working alongside the broader road design team, Civil IQ prepared hydrological and hydraulic assessments, rainfall runoff routing, cross drainage layouts and drainage infrastructure designs to safely manage runoff while minimising environmental disturbance within the national park.
Challenges
- Designing drainage infrastructure across steep mountainous terrain.
- Coordinating hydrological modelling with the broader Snowy 2.0 project requirements.
- Managing significant elevation changes through specialised inlet, collector channel and energy dissipation designs.
- Minimising disturbance within Kosciuszko National Park while maintaining drainage performance.
