Civil IQ delivered the detailed design for the reconstruction of a 5 km section of Bahr Road and Shirbourne Road in Giru, improving a critical transport route serving local quarries and agricultural properties. The project included road geometry, drainage, hydraulic design and detailed modelling to support construction of the upgraded roadway.

Project Overview

Civil IQ was engaged by Burdekin Shire Council to prepare the detailed design for the reconstruction of approximately 5 km of Bahr Road and Shirbourne Road. The project forms part of Council's capital works program to improve a key transport corridor servicing local quarries and agricultural properties.

Design development required careful coordination across numerous culvert crossings, property accesses, cane rail interfaces and road intersections. Working within the Burdekin's exceptionally flat terrain, Civil IQ developed practical road geometry and drainage solutions supported by detailed 3D modelling for construction.

Challenges
