Civil IQ delivered the detailed design for the upgrade of Magazine Loop Road within Lavarack Barracks, supporting the Department of Defence's Capital Works Program. The project provided a durable pavement solution and improved manoeuvring capability for HX81 heavy military vehicles while maintaining operations within a constrained Defence environment.

Project Overview

Civil IQ was engaged to prepare the detailed design for approximately 200 metres of Magazine Loop Road at Lavarack Barracks under a Design and Construct contract with Shamrock Civil Engineering. The existing pavement had reached the end of its service life, requiring a complete upgrade to meet Defence operational requirements.

Working closely with the contractor throughout construction, Civil IQ provided pavement design, stormwater management, bills of quantities and construction-phase support, ensuring the project was delivered efficiently and ready before the onset of the wet season.

Designing within significant geometric constraints created by existing buildings, services, fencing, drainage infrastructure and access roads.
