Engineering design for the dedicated laydown facility supporting the Port of Townsville's wind farm infrastructure expansion, delivering a practical, cost-effective solution for large-scale component storage and logistics.

Project Overview

Civil IQ was engaged to deliver the detailed design and construction phase services for the $15 million Wind Farm Infrastructure Laydown Area within the Port of Townsville's East Port precinct.

The project provided a purpose-built storage and logistics facility for wind turbine components arriving through the Port, requiring extensive earthworks, ground improvement and stormwater management to create a durable heavy-duty laydown area on challenging reclaimed land.

Working alongside the Port of Townsville and construction contractor Mendi, Civil IQ provided detailed design, geotechnical assessment, hardstand design, drainage and water quality management, bill of quantities and construction phase support to achieve a practical, cost-effective outcome.
