Project Overview
The Riparian Recovery Project involved the design and construction phase services for the remediation of eroded embankments along the Ross River at Bicentennial Park, Townsville.
Delivered under the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA), the project required a practical design solution that balanced long-term bank stability with environmental and stakeholder requirements within a sensitive tidal environment.
Working closely with Townsville City Council, Civil IQ provided civil, environmental and geotechnical design services, technical documentation, approvals support and construction phase advice, resulting in a durable rehabilitation that has continued to perform through multiple significant wet seasons.
Challenges
- Construction within restricted low-tide working windows and constrained site access
- Navigating State and Local Government approvals for works within tidal areas
- Integrating the design with the existing landfill profile at Bicentennial Park
